The Schwalbe Motion Pick-Up is specifically built for such bikes - it is Schwalbe’s dedicated cargo tyre with a double carcass construction for excellent impact resistance and load-bearing capacity for you, your bike and everything you’re carrying.
Super Defense carcass
The Motion Pick-Up tyre has a double-layer carcass, specially designed to withstand heavy loads. It keeps the tyre safe and stable, which is essential when cycling with a cargo box full of kids or shopping.
ADDIX rubber compound
The rubber has been specially developed for e-bikes, combining high durability with low rolling resistance and good grip, also when riding at higher speeds or with heavier loads.

- Check the front and rear wheels separately: Many cargo bikes have different sizes for the front and rear wheels.
- Look on the side of your current tyre to find the printed ETRTO size (for example, 55-406).

How to fit your new cargo tyre
You can fit this tyre in about 15 to 20 minutes using a set of tyre levers and a pump. Due to its sturdy Super Defense construction, the tyre may sit a little tighter on the rim than a standard city bike tyre.
- Deflate the old tyre: Press the valve until all the air has escaped.
- Remove the old tyre: Insert a tyre lever between the tyre and the rim and work the tyre off all the way round.
- Position the new tyre: Start at the valve and work your way round, placing the tyre onto the rim with your hands. Due to the sturdy carcass, this will require some more effort than with a standard tyre.
- Fit the inner tube: Inflate the inner tube slightly so that it retains its shape, place inside the tyre and pull the remaining parts of the tyre over it.
- Inflate: Inflate the tyre to the recommended tyre pressure for your size and load, and check that the tyre sits evenly on the rim all round.

- Do you often ride with a heavy load or children? If so, increase the tyre pressure towards the maximum for your tyre size; this helps prevent sagging and reduces wear.
- Check your tyre pressure more often than you would with a standard city bike: The combined weight of the bike, rider and load varies much more on a cargo bike.
- The front and rear tyres may require different pressures if they are different sizes or are carrying different loads.
Which size Schwalbe Motion Pick-Up tyre(s) do I need for my cargo bike?
We offer the Schwalbe Motion Pick-Up in various sizes, ranging from 20 inches (ETRTO 55-406) to 26 inches (ETRTO 60-559). Check the front and rear wheels separately: In many cargo bikes, such as the Urban Arrow models, the front tyre is smaller than the rear one.
How much weight can the Schwalbe Motion Pick-Up tyre carry?
That depends on the size - the smallest size (55-406) can carry up to 115 kg, the largest (60-559) up to 165 kg. If in doubt, choose the size that suits the total weight of the bike, rider and load.
Is the Schwalbe Motion Pick-Up tyre tubeless?
No, this is a clincher tyre with an inner tube. You will therefore need a suitable inner tube, which you can find in our e-bike inner tubes.
